REDUCING CARBON FOOTPRINT: FROM INDIVIDUAL TO GLOBAL ACTIONS

Description

Carbon footprint reduction can play a significant role in fighting global warming and climate change, as mandated by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that aim to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all. The course provides an introduction to climate change, carbon footprinting (GHG Accounting) and carbon reduction. The aim is to equip learners with the knowledge and skills to identify, quantify and report GHG emissions in their institutions (the carbon footprint) and plan action to reduce these emissions

Method

1.    General Lecture              : 8 hours

2.    Conceptual Lecture       : 10 hours

3.    Hands on practice         : 8 hours     

3.    Field excursion               : 10 hours

4.    Independent Task         : 14 hours

5.    Project presentation     :   5 hours

-Green GDP and Natural Resources Accounting

-Integrated waste management at the university: IPB experience

-Building environmental awareness through fun games

-Excursion to sustainable tourist site: Situ Gunung Suspension Bridge (Sukabumi)

-Student competition, awarding and closing ceremony

Eligibility Criteria

-Senior undergraduate students or graduate students at local/overseas University

-Able to communicate and write in English 

Requirement:

-Copy of ID (passport or KTP)

-Academic transcript

-CV/Resume

-Payment proof, submitted to Dr. Buitenzorgy’s email by June 29th, 2020 (please do not pay anything before we announce the list of successful applicants)
